What we collect
When you sign in to VODey, we collect basic profile information from your chosen sign-in provider (Twitch, Google, or Patreon):
- Display name
- Email address
- Profile picture URL
- Your platform user ID (for following your channels/subscriptions)
- OAuth tokens, used solely to fetch your follow list and your patron status
How we use it
We use your data to:
- Sign you in and identify you across sessions
- Sync your followed streamers and subscribed YouTube channels
- Verify your Patreon patron status to grant Premium access
- Display your VODs and playlists in the app
Who we share data with
We do not sell your data or share it for advertising. We share limited data only with the service providers necessary to operate VODey:
- Neon (database hosting) — stores your profile, playlists, and follows.
- Railway (backend hosting) — runs the application server that processes your data.
- Vercel (frontend hosting) — serves the VODey web application.
- Cloudflare (storage and content delivery) — stores playlist cover images and routes email.
- Patreon (subscription management) — verifies your Premium membership status if you connect your Patreon account.
- Google/YouTube and Twitch APIs — we send your authorization tokens to these platforms solely to read the channels you follow or subscribe to, on your behalf.
These providers process data only to deliver their service to VODey and are bound by their own privacy and security obligations. We do not transfer your Google user data to any party for purposes unrelated to providing or improving VODey.
Google user data
VODey's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We access your YouTube subscriptions only to display and organize them within VODey. We do not transfer or use this data for serving ads, and we do not allow humans to read it except where required for security or to comply with law.
What we don't do
We never post on your behalf to Twitch, YouTube, Google, or Patreon. We never sell your data to third parties. We never use your data for advertising.
Data storage
Your data is stored on encrypted database servers (Neon PostgreSQL) and a CDN for cover images (Cloudflare R2). Both providers maintain industry-standard security practices.
Account deletion
You can delete your account at any time by contacting us. We will permanently remove your profile, playlists, and any uploaded content.
